Has anyone else noticed how little media coverage Sonya’s case received back when she first went missing? It's frustrating to think that biases could have influenced the urgency and attention given to her disappearance. Sonya's struggles with mental health and substance abuse shouldn't have impacted the response she got, but it seems like they might have. Her mother did everything she could, even setting up a safety plan to ensure Sonya was okay, only to be met with silence when it mattered most. I can’t help but wonder if a more aggressive media push early on might have brought some new leads or at least kept public interest alive. It's such a shame that despite the flyer efforts and vigils, there just wasn't enough spotlight on her case to make a real difference. How do we get these cases the attention they deserve?
