Does anyone have thoughts on why Jack’s SPOT Gen3 GPS tracker wasn’t activated? It just doesn’t add up to me. Here’s a guy who’s experienced, got all his hiking gear, and yet something prevents him from pressing a button on his GPS tracker? I mean, it makes me wonder if something happened very quickly or unexpectedly. It’s unsettling because it’s such a simple thing to do if you’re lost or in trouble. Also, with the terrain being rugged and near water, could it have gotten damaged or lost in a fall? I’d love to hear what others think might’ve happened around that.
Hey everyone, I wanted to share some thoughts about Jack Forest Thomas's case that I've been mulling over. We've all seen many skilled hikers tackle challenging terrains like the Sawtooth Mountains, but I keep wondering about the role technology played—or didn’t play—in Jack’s situation.
You know, he had that SPOT Gen3 GPS tracker with him, but it was never activated. Why? Was it already faulty when he started? Or could something have happened that prevented Jack from using it? It just seems odd for someone experienced like him not to use his gear when he got into trouble. I’ve read similar cases where tech failure contributed significantly to the mystery, leaving families and investigators with frustrating gaps.
I think focusing on why the tracker wasn’t activated might yield some clues. Maybe the technology itself needs more scrutiny in these remote, rugged conditions? It could help prevent future tragedies and assist in cracking the mysterious circumstances surrounding Jack’s last adventure. Anyone else have thoughts on this or similar tech-related missing person cases?
