I’ve been following JJ Thomas’s case closely, and it’s just gut-wrenching to think about how his life was stolen from him in a place that’s meant to be safe for everyone. What stood out to me was the involvement of such young people in this crime. Trey Brown being just 18 and another individual only 17... It's hard to grasp how lives can take such destructive paths at such a young age.
I can't help but think about the role of community centers and what they symbolize—a sanctuary for kids to grow, learn, and feel safe. The fact that this shooting happened there is disturbing and has to make us question what more we can do to protect our youth. How do we make these spaces safe again? And how do we intervene before things escalate to this point for other adolescents?
Sending thoughts to JJ’s family and hoping the community's strength continues to support them as they seek justice and healing. This tragedy has to be a wake-up call for all of us to amp up efforts in engaging with our youth more positively. What can be done better? Would love to hear others’ thoughts and ideas on this.
Hi everyone,
I've been following JJ Thomas’s tragic case, and it’s just so hard to wrap my head around all these lost opportunities and dreams. One thing that resonates with me is how much potential this young boy had. From what I’ve gathered, JJ loved basketball and was a regular at the community center where he was killed. It's devastating to think that a place meant for joy and positive community gathering was the site of such a tragedy.
It’s clear this wasn’t just a random act, and I can't help but wonder if more awareness or intervention programs could have changed things. The community must focus now on providing safer spaces and mentorship for our youth to prevent any more bright futures from being stolen by violence. Much love and strength to JJ's family and everyone affected. We must stay vigilant and support those efforts to honor his memory and protect our children.
Stay safe, everyone.
