Hey everyone,
I read about Michael Mayfield's case and can't stop thinking about his connection to Junior ROTC. As someone who went through a similar program in high school, I know how it shapes young leaders and instills a sense of responsibility and citizenship. It's deeply troubling that a young man with such a bright future was taken away so senselessly.
Being involved in ROTC, Michael was obviously on a path to inspiring more youth and making real change. It breaks my heart to think about the positive influence he could have continued to have on his peers and community. I know there's been a lot of talk about youth violence in Baltimore, but stories like Michael's really underscore how tragic and wasteful this violence is. I feel for his family, and I hope they find some form of closure soon. Keep shining light on this case and support for his family. They need all the help they can get to push for justice.

I've been reading through some of the discussions about Michael Mayfield's tragic death, and one thing that really sticks with me is how much potential this young man had. It’s hard not to feel incredibly moved when you think about all that he was involved in – Junior ROTC, being a peer mediator, and a youth ambassador, not to mention his promising future in baseball. It's just so senseless that someone like him, who was clearly making a positive impact, was taken away under such awful circumstances.
I can't stop thinking about what his family must be going through, especially with no answers so far and no one held accountable. It makes me wonder about the systemic issues in our justice system and what more can be done to solve these cases. How do we prevent this from happening to other kids with bright futures? Sending love and strength to Michael’s family and friends in the hope that they get the justice and peace they deserve.
