I’ve been thinking a lot about the sliding glass door in Brandee’s apartment. It’s one of those details that really sticks with you, you know? It feels like such a vulnerable spot. I can’t help but picture Brandee just enjoying a moment of peace, maybe looking outside, and then everything changed in an instant. It’s terrifying and so unfair. What’s heartbreaking to me is imagining the normalcy of that moment before it was shattered. I hope that her family finds comfort in knowing her memory is cherished by so many, even those of us who never knew her personally. The way her story has touched people is a testament to who she was. If her life had to end so soon, at least there’s some solace in seeing the community rally around her memory. Let’s never forget to be there for her family, and to honor her by keeping our communities safe as best as we can.
