I was reading about the Charlie Martin case, and I can't help but feel for his family. I can't imagine the pain they're going through, dealing with such a loss. But something that's been on my mind is the focus on gun safety education. At 14, kids are curious and sometimes naïve about the danger they're playing with when it comes to firearms. I wonder if more comprehensive gun safety programs, especially in areas with a high number of gun owners, could prevent tragedies like this from happening. Not just teaching about safe handling but really drilling in the idea of respect for what a firearm can do. My heart goes out to Charlie's family, and I hope this case at least sparks better conversations around preventing future incidents. Such a senseless tragedy.
