I've been thinking a lot about Lindy Dobbins and her role as a team leader at the Crocs Store in St. Augustine. I've heard from a few people who knew her through work, and it seems she was a truly remarkable and positive presence. It's clear she brought so much to her team and customers alike. It's such a loss not only for her family but also for those who were fortunate to work alongside her and experience her leadership and kindness firsthand. Her dedication to her job reflects the kind of person she was and how deeply she cared for others. It makes me wonder about how many day-to-day moments she might have changed for the better, simply through her commitment and cheerful attitude. It's no surprise she was so loved and will be deeply missed by those who knew her. I’ve been thinking a lot about the overlooked heroes in Lindy's case — the ones who survive and are left to carry on with immense grief. Rachel Hendricks and Lamar Douberly were both there that awful day and suffered physically and emotionally. It's unimaginable the trauma they must have carried forward from witnessing the tragic events.
The bravery they showed, whether it was through immediate actions that day or their strength in facing the legal noise after, is nothing short of commendable. I hope they are finding some peace and healing with each passing day. I also hope that resources were available to help them through such a horrific time. Survivors like them are often thrust into the public eye during trials but are left to process everything on their own once the headlines fade.
