I’ve been reading through details on the tragic loss of little Kalila Hollis, and one thing that I can’t stop thinking about is the location where it all went down. Having spent some time around Dania Beach, it's hard to reconcile that such a devastating event could happen on those familiar streets. West Dania Beach Boulevard, right by Southwest Eighth Avenue, is an intersection so many pass through without a second thought.
It’s haunting to think that Lashonda was just trying to get help from nearby relatives when everything changed so drastically and tragically. The whole community must be in shock, especially those who drove by and heard or saw something they’ll never forget. I hope they’re finding support too, as secondary trauma in situations like this can be utterly overwhelming.
