I’ve been following Tamia’s case and felt compelled to share my thoughts. It’s just so unimaginable that a young life like Tamia's, full of potential and dreams, was taken in such a senseless act of violence. I keep wondering about the impact this has had on her classmates and the community at Robert E. Lee High School. This tragedy must have left a profound mark on them. Having a violent incident hit so close to their everyday lives is something no young person should have to endure. I sincerely hope the school and community have come together to support each other through this difficult time. Tamia's vibrant spirit shouldn't be overshadowed by how her life was taken, but remembered for how much she meant to those around her. Sending all my thoughts to her family and friends as they continue to cope with such an unimaginable loss.
Hi everyone,
I've been following the discussion about Tamia Alexandria Sanders, and one aspect that really stands out to me is how vulnerable everyone involved was during that tragic incident. Being just outside her home on West 38th Street, Tamia was caught in a situation that spiraled out of control so quickly. It’s hard to grasp how something like this can happen in a place where kids should feel safe. My heart truly goes out to her family and friends, who are left grappling with such an unimaginable loss.
While there has been some sense of justice with the conviction of Bryan Goggins Jr., it’s a stark reminder of the pervasive issue of gun violence in our communities. The fact that Goggins, as a convicted felon, had access to a firearm is deeply disturbing. It makes you wonder what more can be done to prevent similar tragedies. Jacksonville, like many cities, faces a significant challenge in curbing gun violence, and cases like Tamia's only underline the urgent need for stronger preventative measures.
Holding her family in my thoughts.
Has anyone else been following the sentencing of Bryan Keefe Goggins Jr.? The whole story around Tamia Sanders is so tragic, and my heart goes out to her family and friends. I can't imagine what they're going through, especially knowing that someone could be so reckless.
The fact that Goggins could face life in prison seems like a huge step towards holding people accountable, but it just doesn't bring Tamia back. I'm still wrapped up in thinking about how something like an argument can escalate in such a deadly way. It's terrifying how guns can be drawn in an instant and forever change lives. Does anyone know if there's been any community effort or new discussions around gun violence policies in Jacksonville since this happened? I feel like there needs to be more awareness and preventative measures to keep innocent people like Tamia safe.
