I’ve been trying to wrap my head around this case, especially around the role of Dalton Carlton. It’s chilling how he ran alongside Carey and was seen holding onto the gun. Even though he didn’t pull the trigger, his actions make you wonder about accountability and how deep complicity can run. I can't imagine the pain Willard’s friends and family must be feeling, knowing that someone who was supposed to be a bystander ended up being so heavily involved. It just goes to show how important the smallest details in witness statements and surveillance footage can be in piecing together what really happened that night. My thoughts are with Derek’s loved ones as they navigate the aftermath of this tragedy.
I was just reading up on the surveillance footage from the Play-by-Play Sports Bar & Lounge, and it’s tough not to feel for Derek Willard’s family. That footage must have been incredibly difficult for them to watch, but it was also crucial in pinpointing what happened. It showed both Carey and Carlton in action, and it’s mind-boggling how a night out could escalate to this level of violence. This never would’ve happened if Carey and Carlton had just walked away. My thoughts are with Willard's friends and family during this process, hoping they find the strength to get through this unimaginable time.
