I’ve been following Elijah Mayhew’s case, and I can’t stop thinking about the role of the adults who were supposed to be supervising him and his friends that day. How did a 15-year-old get access to a firearm in the first place? It’s just so devastating to hear that a life was cut short because of an accident that might have been preventable with proper safety measures in place. I hope that, moving forward, this tragedy urges people to talk more openly about gun safety and secure their firearms appropriately, especially with kids in the house. Sending my heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Elijah’s family and friends as they navigate through this incredibly difficult time.
