I've been following this case closely and am struck by the bravery of the Orlando police during that intense standoff. It’s incredibly saddening to hear about Officer Kevin Valencia being critically injured in the line of duty. It must have been terrifying, knowing the gravity of the situation and trying to balance the urgency of the children’s safety with their own. Thank goodness for the officers who put themselves in harm's way to try and save those kids; it’s heartbreaking it couldn’t end differently. Sending my best wishes and hope for a full recovery to Officer Valencia. Let’s not forget the daily risks law enforcement officers take to protect us, especially in these unpredictable and volatile situations.
