I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact of Franklin Morris's appearance on "Beyond Scared Straight." It's just so tough to grasp that he was on a path trying to change his life. It makes you wonder about the effectiveness of programs like that—are they really giving these kids the support they need, or just a temporary bandaid on a much deeper wound in communities like Wilson Park?
It’s incredibly saddening to hear about his dad’s murder too. How many kids are out there experiencing the same trauma and battling cycles they never signed up for? I feel so deeply for his family, having to navigate this loss after already going through such a similar tragedy.
If anyone has insights on what could actually help these communities break free from this violence, I’d love to hear them. It just feels like there’s so much more we could be doing for young people like Franklin.
Hey everyone, I was revisiting the Franklin Morris case and something that really stuck with me was his appearance on "Beyond Scared Straight." It’s so tragic to think about how much potential these young people have, but they're growing up in environments where violence seems to be a part of everyday life. I'm reminded of his family, especially knowing that his father was also a victim of homicide. It must be incredibly overwhelming for them, dealing with this double tragedy. Does anyone know if any community initiatives have tried to reach out to families like Franklin's in Baltimore to offer support or if there are newer programs after his case? It just feels like there has to be more we can do to break this cycle. Please share if you have any info or thoughts. Thanks.
I recently fell down the rabbit hole of Franklin Morris's case and something that really stood out to me was his appearance on "Beyond Scared Straight." It's just so incredibly sad to think about how Franklin was trying to turn his life around and got caught in this tragedy. I know many kids who go on that show don't always find their way back, but it makes me wonder if there's more we could be doing as a society to support youth in troubled neighborhoods. It's obvious they need more than just one TV appearance to stay on a straight path when it seems the odds are stacked against them from so many angles. Families like Franklin’s shouldn’t have to endure this kind of continuous heartache. Hopefully, people will start to realize the importance of community and mentorship in helping prevent such losses in the future. ❤️
