I can’t stop thinking about how Yasnai had bravely filed that protection order just days before the tragedy. It’s incredibly painful to know she recognized the danger and reached out for help, yet was still left vulnerable. It makes me so angry and frustrated to imagine how many other individuals might be in similar situations, feeling scared and uncertain of their safety. It just highlights how important and urgent it is for these types of proceedings to be expedited. My heart goes out to Yasnai’s family and everyone who knew her, especially her little boy who has to grow up without his mother and uncles. Every piece of this case is a reminder of how crucial it is for us to support and love those around us and to advocate for better systems to protect those in peril.
