I was thinking today about Roberto Cardenas’ family and the unimaginable pain they must still be carrying. Losing a loved one in such a sudden and violent way is devastating, especially when children are involved who witnessed the incident. I read that they fled the scene in panic, and I can’t imagine the fear that must’ve gripped them in those horrifying moments. I hope they're getting the support they need to start healing. It’s just so difficult to wrap my head around how a simple attempt to help someone can turn into such a tragedy. If there are resources or support groups that anyone knows of, it might be helpful to share them for families going through similar situations. Sending all my thoughts and prayers to those forever changed by this day.

I'm still grappling with the senseless loss of Roberto Cardenas. It’s profoundly troubling to think about how his brave decision to intervene in a volatile situation ended in such tragedy. I came across some discussions about Roberto's role in the community, and it seems he was the type of person who just couldn't stand by when others were in distress. It’s heartbreaking to think that a simple act of courage could lead to such a devastating outcome. The involvement of his family, right there witnessing this horrific event, adds a layer of trauma that they didn’t deserve. For those children to have that memory of their father trying to help, only to be lost like this, is incredibly painful. It reminds us how even well-intentioned actions can lead to unforeseen consequences. How is everyone holding up in Opa-locka, knowing this happened in broad daylight? It's a sobering reminder of how close to home such violence can occur, and it's a call for all of us to strive towards preventing these situations from spiraling out of control.
