I’ve been thinking a lot about Venicio Perez since the news of his passing, particularly the impact on his school and friends. The lives of teenagers are already filled with so much uncertainty, and for them to lose a friend in such a violent way is truly unfathomable. From what I've gathered, Venicio was a bright 17-year-old with a promising future ahead of him. His absence must be felt deeply by those who knew and loved him. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for his classmates and teachers to process this loss, especially when it happened during a time that's supposed to be filled with joy and togetherness. This is a pivotal time in a young person's life, and navigating grief while trying to resume normalcy at school is no small feat. My heart goes out to everyone who sat next to Venicio in class, shared lunch with him, or simply enjoyed his company in the hallways of their school. I hope they are finding support in each other and from their community. Additionally, I wonder if any of Venicio’s friends have come forward with information or if they’re in a position to help push the case forward. Sometimes, young people feel intimidated by the prospect of speaking to the police, but every bit of information can be crucial. Let’s keep sharing their story, hoping someone with knowledge comes forward to help bring closure to his family and friends.
