Hey everyone,
I've been closely following the case of Milton Cope Jr., and my heart goes out to his family, especially his daughter Caitlin, who must be going through such a tough time. Something that's been bugging me lately is the decision not to charge Stephen Gerhardt McKenzie. I understand the self-defense claims and the legal challenges with proving otherwise, but I can't help thinking about the neighbor's report. A car horn honking and McKenzie with a gun—wasn't that enough to indicate some kind of urgency or distress?
It just feels like there are missing pieces to the puzzle. Maybe there's more context around the altercation that day that hasn't come to light. It’s frustrating to think that this might be it unless new evidence surfaces. Does anyone else feel like there’s more beneath the surface here? We owe it to Milton's memory and his family to dig deeper and keep this conversation going until there is a sense of justice served.
What do you all think? Could there have been more pressure on the prosecutors to reevaluate the decision, or is this typical in such cases? Any legal experts here who can shed light on what might have influenced the prosecution's call?
Let's keep discussing—this family deserves the closure they're seeking.
Stay safe, everyone.
