I’ve been following the case of Joseph Torres since it happened, and every new detail seems to deepen the sadness around his loss. One thing that really hit me was learning he was killed on his daughter's birthday. Just imagining a little girl waiting to celebrate with her dad who never comes home... it's unbearably sad. And he had even picked out a dress for her—it's such a personal and loving gesture that he never got to deliver. My heart goes out to his family, especially his daughter, as they continue to navigate life without him. I hope they find some comfort in the memories they shared and in the love he clearly had for them. This tragedy highlights how one moment of senseless violence can tear apart so many lives. Keeping the Torres family in my thoughts as they cope with such unimaginable loss.

I can't stop thinking about the empanada place Joseph and his friend were headed to that night. It’s such a haunting detail—how something so ordinary like grabbing a late-night snack turned into an absolute nightmare. Joseph had already served his country and it’s painfully tragic that he came home only to lose his life in such a senseless manner. My heart goes out to his daughter, who will grow up with memories of her dad clouded by this terrible event. I hope she finds solace in knowing how much he loved her. I’m curious about those increased security measures in downtown Orlando—are they making a difference now? Sending love to Joseph’s family and friends. ?
