I’ve been reflecting on the role of Steven Smolensky's career in shaping his character. From what I’ve read, those 25 years with the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office must have instilled a remarkable sense of duty and service. Friends and family described him as someone who relentlessly put others first, which makes the circumstances of his passing even more tragic. It seems like his instincts would have been on full alert the day of the incident, but nothing could have prepared him for facing such danger while simply doing his job at Suburban Propane. His dedication to public safety, even after retiring, paints a picture of a truly committed individual. It’s terribly unsettling to think about the risks he faced throughout his career, only for his life to be taken under such harrowing circumstances during what should have been an ordinary work day. My thoughts go out to his family and all those who were touched by his life and service.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the day Steven Smolensky lost his life, and I can't shake off how brave he must have been in those final moments. Even after a long career as a deputy, it seems like he never let his guard down, always wanting to help others and maintain peace. It's truly gut-wrenching to think that a simple workday task turned into a tragedy. I can’t help but admire Steven’s composure when faced with such a terrifying situation. By all accounts, he calmly tried to explain to Swearingen why he was there, hoping to diffuse the situation. It takes a lot of strength to maintain your composure when someone is pointing a gun at you, and yet he did just that. It’s so important for us to remember how Steven not only dedicated 25 years serving his community but was also trying to do his job when his life was taken from him. Let's keep honoring his legacy by acknowledging his courage and compassion.

Has anyone else been thinking about the family and colleagues of Steven Smolensky after this horrific event? As someone who dedicated 25 years to serving his community, I can't imagine the shock and grief they must be feeling. Being taken so violently while just trying to do his job must be devastating for them, especially knowing he was someone who worked to protect others. It's baffling and infuriating that someone could interpret a propane delivery as a threat. My heart goes out to his loved ones; they must be experiencing a wide range of emotions right now. I hope they can find some peace and support in the wake of his tragic loss. ?
