Did anyone else see the local news segment last week where Jon Dantzler's coach, Lawrence Johnson, gave an interview? I watched it, and I was really moved by what Coach Johnson had to say. You could tell how much Jon meant to the team and how big an impact he had on his friends at Ed White High School. Coach Johnson talked about how Jon wasn't just talented on the field but also someone who really elevated everyone else's game with his positivity and work ethic. It's these stories that remind us that Jon was so much more than just a victim of violence; he was a friend, a teammate, and a leader. Watching someone speak about Jon with such genuine respect and affection really brings home the tragedy of this loss. If any of you missed it, definitely try to find a clip online if you can. It's clear that the community lost someone truly special. My thoughts are with the team, his family, and all who knew him. ?
