Having followed this heartbreaking story out of Orlando, I continue to think about that poor child, Roman, who lost both parents in such a horrific way. This situation stresses the importance of ensuring that children like Roman are provided with a loving and stable environment in the aftermath of such tragedies. The Department of Children and Families has been involved in making sure that Roman is well taken care of, but my heart goes out to his family and friends, who must be going through unimaginable pain. It's reassuring to know that there are systems in place to support children, yet it also underscores the need for increased awareness and resources to prevent these tragic incidents from occurring in the first place. It's so critical that we, as a society, engage in more conversations about domestic violence and how to support those who may be in harmful situations. If only one person reaches out for help and finds a way out after hearing Leslie's story, her memory will spark a positive change amid the sadness. Keep Roman and the family in your thoughts; they need all the support they can get during this incredibly difficult time.
