I was recently reading about the tragic events surrounding Myra Carol Weinstein Chegwin and her family's murder, and I can't help but think about poor Debbie Weinstein. Just 19 and with so much life ahead of her, she was taken in such a senseless act. It's hard to comprehend what could drive someone to commit such a horrific crime against those they once called family. My thoughts go out to their friends and extended family who surely are still trying to make sense of it all, decades later. If anything, this case just underscores the dire need for more dialogue and resources around domestic violence—it's heartbreaking how many are still affected by it today. It's a heinous crime that should never be forgotten, and I truly hope the community continues to rally around the importance of being vigilant and supportive when it comes to these issues.
