I recently stumbled upon Herbert Damon's case and found myself fascinated by the challenges around searching remote areas like Long Island, Maine. If anyone else has done research into search and rescue operations on small islands, I'd love to hear your thoughts on how these conditions might have contributed to the case going cold. From what I've read, harsh weather and rough terrains can make searching super difficult. For Herbert's disappearance, I wonder if potential clues were simply missed because of these obstacles or maybe even washed away into the ocean. It seems like such a daunting task given the environment there. Any insights or similar cases that come to mind?
I was reading about Herbert Damon’s disappearance, and something caught my attention that hasn’t really been discussed much. Has anyone looked into the weather conditions on Long Island, Maine, around the time he vanished? I know it’s a remote area, and weather can change quickly there. I’m curious if adverse weather might’ve made it even more difficult for search parties back then. Sometimes rough seas or dense fog can hamper early searches, and given the unpredictability of March weather in Maine, it could've been a factor in why no trace of him was found. Just a thought... maybe it’s worth digging into old weather reports for those days in 1989 to see if there's anything to this angle.
Does anyone have more insight into Herbert Damon's close friendships or social circle back in 1989? I feel like understanding more about who he hung out with might shed light on his disappearance. Sometimes, people in a smaller community, like Long Island, might know more than they initially realize. Did any of Herbert's friends mention seeing him in the days leading up to March 13th, or was anything different about his behavior? It's strange that someone could just vanish without any trace, and yet maybe unraveling more about his interactions could help in piecing together those missing links. Anyone with firsthand stories or even local rumors around that time, please share your thoughts. Maybe there's something out there that hasn't been considered yet!
