Reflecting on Corey Lamont Shell's tragic passing, I can’t help but focus on the role of community cooperation in these investigations. It’s so frustrating to see how many cases, like Corey’s, hit a dead-end despite having surveillance footage potentially available. It makes me wonder what more could be done to encourage people who might know something to speak up. This underscores a significant barrier in cities struggling with violence. Whether it's fear, mistrust, or feeling like it won't make a difference, a lack of witness cooperation not only complicates things for investigators but also leaves families without the justice and closure they desperately need. Community engagement seems to be a crucial piece of the puzzle we’re missing. How can we create environments where people feel safe and empowered to share what they know? If anyone has witnessed efforts that have successfully fostered this kind of cooperation, I'd love to hear about them. It's so important we find a way to bridge this gap for families like Corey's.
