I've been thinking a lot about the ripple effect that took place in the Key Largo apartments in '93. It's beyond troubling to think about how so much pain began with neighborhood disputes that escalated into such a tragic event. I didn't know Virginia Eash or little Jessica Ruehl personally, but just imagining the loss their families must feel is heartbreaking. Virginia was 46, still so much life ahead of her, and Jessica, just a child with endless possibilities. I hope the community learned from what happened, especially in terms of ensuring there are better systems in place for identifying and managing conflicts early on. It’s essential for people to have avenues where they can talk about their frustrations before reaching a point of no return. Wondering if anyone has heard about any community programs that may have come out of this tragedy? Sometimes good can come from the worst situations, but it's hard to see it when looking at such a senseless loss.
