Hey everyone, I wanted to bring up something about the F/V Fierce Competitor case that caught my attention. I’ve been digging into the case details, and something struck me as odd about the timing. The vessel departed from Warrenton, OR, but there was significant bad weather reported along their route around the time they went missing. I can't shake the feeling that weather may have played a bigger role than initially considered. Did anyone notice specific reports or data points from that time? It seems like such an experienced crew, with folks like Keithly Young and Vicki Rowe-Simonsen onboard, would have been aware of these conditions. Wondering what everyone's thoughts are on how much weather might have influenced this situation.
Has anyone looked into the weather conditions when the F/V Fierce Competitor was supposed to be en route? I'm curious if there were any storm warnings or rough sea conditions reported around the time they went missing. A sudden change in weather can be incredibly dangerous, especially in those waters. It's so tragic considering how experienced most fishing crews are—something must have gone very wrong. It's also strange that a whole group, including Vicki Rowe-Simonsen and Robert Simonsen, went missing without a trace. Hoping the investigation turns up something soon because the families must be going through so much uncertainty. Anyone have more info on the maritime conditions back then?
