I was reading through the details of Deputy Tony Diaz's case, and it's just so distressing to think about how quickly things escalated that night. I keep going back to the decision Deputy Diaz had to make during that high-speed pursuit. It's easy to praise the heroism after the fact, but in the moment, with adrenaline pumping and so many unknowns... The stress must have been unimaginable. It's clear he was incredibly brave, continuing the chase despite the dangers, especially knowing there was a child involved. The fact that he found the strength to call for backup after being shot shows his dedication not only to his duty but to ensuring the safety of others. I really hope the renamed rest area serves as a reminder to everyone who passes of the real bravery and sacrifices our law enforcement officers make. My thoughts are with Deputy Diaz's family and community, who lost such an integral part of their lives under such tragic circumstances.
