Hey everyone, I've been following Eric Perez's case and something that really gets to me is the role gang affiliation seems to have played in people's perception of him. It breaks my heart knowing that Eric might be judged more harshly because he was documented as a gang member. Whether or not he had any involvement, we can't forget that he was still a victim caught in such a tragic situation. I've read accounts of how difficult the investigation has been due to witness intimidation, and it makes me wonder how many stories go untold because people are too scared to speak up. In our discussions, let's remember Eric as a person who lost his life too soon. His family and friends deserve answers and closure, not stigma. If anyone has thoughts on how communities can support individuals like Eric amidst gang violence, I'd love to hear them.
