I’ve been following the Jonathan Romero Hernandez case closely, and it just breaks my heart to think about the ripple effects this tragedy has on his family and friends. I can’t imagine getting that phone call days before Christmas, thinking about the holidays and spending time with loved ones, only to have everything turn upside down. It’s a reminder that life can change in an instant because of senseless violence. I saw that a community vigil was held near that church where one of the suspects tossed the gun. It became a space where people shared memories and lit candles, and some talked about the importance of ending the cycle of violence. It’s moments like these when communities really show strength and unity in the face of such awful circumstances. Sending a lot of love to everyone impacted by this. No family should have to endure such pain. ?
