Hi everyone, I’ve been following Daisy Mae Hayes' case and something that I find haunting is how mental illness was handled throughout the trial. As someone who has relatives with similar struggles, it just reminds me of how much work still needs to be done in mental health care and understanding. Tiffany Nicole Burney’s history of schizophrenia should have been a bigger conversation, not just in court but within her family and community long before the tragic event. It’s beyond sad to see how these untreated issues can escalate to such a devastating event—resulting in the loss of a beloved family member and the destruction of another’s life. Did the system fail Tiffany? Should there have been more support available for her? My heart goes out to both Daisy’s family and Tiffany. I hope we all can learn from this tragedy to better support those around us struggling with mental health, and perhaps prevent future stories like this one. What are everyone’s thoughts on how mental health was discussed and utilized in this case?

Does anyone else think about Daisy Mae Hayes’ dogs during this case? I remember reading that she was very fond of her two dachshunds, who were her constant companions. It breaks my heart to think about how they might have reacted that night. Pets often pick up on family tensions, and having something so tragic happen must have been really distressing for them. I hope they found a good home with a family member or someone who could give them the love and comfort Daisy would have wanted for them. It's such a small detail in the grand scheme of things, but it just adds another layer of sadness to this already devastating story. Anyone know what happened to them?
