I was just reading about the tragic events at Oikos University and came across Katleen Ping's story. It's so devastating to think about what the victims and their families went through that day. Katleen worked as a receptionist at the university and was one of the first people targeted in the shooting. Being on the front lines, she had little chance to escape when Goh began his horrific actions.
It makes me think about the vulnerability of those who work in public-facing roles, and how their daily responsibilities can put them in harm’s way. Katleen was just going about her day, doing her job, when everything changed in an instant.
My heart goes out to Katleen's family and loved ones, who had to endure such a profound loss. It's infuriating to think about how something like a grudge against an institution could lead to such a senseless act of violence. We need to keep talking about these issues and push for change to prevent these tragedies.
Hey everyone, I've been following the Oikos University tragedy and couldn't help but think about the immense courage of the first responders that day. While the focus is rightly on the victims and their families, I want to take a moment to acknowledge how the emergency services rushed into such a dangerous situation. When they arrived, they had no idea what they were walking into yet still had the bravery to do whatever they could to help. For Katleen Ping's family and the families of the other victims, I hope knowing that there were people fighting to save their loved ones offers some small comfort. This whole situation is a stark reminder of the importance of supporting our emergency services, who often face the unimaginable head-on. Just wanted to share that thought and send love to everyone affected by this heartbreaking event.
