Has anyone looked into the kinds of support systems available for students like Veronika and others who feel isolated or rejected? It’s so important we create environments where young people feel they have somewhere to turn when they're struggling. I can't help but think that maybe if there had been more visible mental health resources and peer support groups on and around the UCSB campus, things could have turned out differently. I’m not blaming anyone specifically, but it feels like we need to ensure that students have access to the help they need before situations escalate into something so tragic. My heart aches for Veronika's family and friends. Making sure students know there are people who care about their well-being might be a critical step in preventing future tragedies. Does anyone know of initiatives or programs that have been implemented since this happened? It would be comforting to see steps being taken to protect students in university communities.

I’ve been thinking a lot about Veronika Weiss's family and how they must be coping in the years since the tragedy. Under such unimaginable circumstances, it’s heart-wrenching to think about what they’ve had to endure. I read that they were involved in legal action against the property management company. It must’ve been a long and painful process, but I hope it provided them some form of closure or accountability. The bigger question still lingers for me—what steps are being taken to prevent individuals like Elliot Rodger from slipping through the cracks? It’s frustrating knowing how these warning signs sometimes go unnoticed or unacted upon. My thoughts are continually with Veronika's loved ones and everyone affected by such senseless violence. I hope we, as a society, can push towards real change to prevent these tragedies from happening again.
