Hey everyone, I've been following the case of Steven Mays Jr. and wanted to discuss the impact his tragic death had on his community. It's been years since that awful day in 2014, but for those who knew Steven, the pain surely hasn't gone away. From what I've read, Steven was more than just a statistic of gang violence—he was someone's son, friend, and a member of the Merced community. It's bittersweet to see how his loss spurred local authorities to take stronger action against gang activities. I've noticed some changes around town, like increased police presence and more programs aimed at steering youths away from gangs. While these efforts are commendable, I can't help but think about what Steven's family and friends still face every day without him. I wonder if anyone here has been involved in any of the community initiatives since his passing. How effective have they been over the years? Has the situation improved since those sad events?
