I was thinking about the use of robots in these kinds of situations after reading about how a SWAT robot made entry into the shooter's apartment. It's just incredible how technology plays a role in modern policing, especially when dealing with volatile and dangerous scenarios. It's striking to think about what officers like Michael Jeremiah Johnson face daily while putting their lives on the line. I can't even imagine the split-second decisions and stress involved. Having a robot go in after such a traumatic event must offer some level of safety, but it also underlines the high stakes these officers deal with. My heart truly goes out to Officer Johnson's family and colleagues. This incident is such a stark reminder of the dangers involved in their work. Does anyone know more about how effective these robots have been or if their use has increased in these kinds of high-risk situations?
