I came across the case of Jose Enrique Ortiz recently, and it's honestly so frustrating how things went down in San Bernardino back in 2016. It's hard to even imagine what his family is going through, losing someone so young and bright. Just 19, and his life was brutally cut short in such a violent way. What really stands out, or haunts me rather, is thinking about the fear and confusion Jose must've felt in those last moments. Found lying in the street—a young life shattered in an instant. I’ve read how many shootings took place during that violent streak, and it’s heartbreaking to know that this could happen to anyone's son, brother, or friend. You'd think that after so many tragedies, there would be more urgency to tackle gun violence and make the streets safer. Yet, the numbers just kept rising that year. It's a bitter reminder of how systemic issues keep perpetuating these crimes. I hope more people who know something come forward, not just for Jose’s sake, but for all those affected during that time. His family, and others like them, deserve answers and some semblance of peace.

I recently came across Jose Enrique Ortiz's case, and it just makes you think about how many young lives were cut short during that violent time in San Bernardino. I can't even imagine how difficult it must be for his family to come to terms with such a loss. What really stands out to me is how his tragic death seems to reflect a larger issue that was happening in the city, where gun violence was spiraling out of control. It seems like despite law enforcement's best efforts, they were really struggling to get a handle on things back then. Did anyone in this forum live in San Bernardino during that time? Was the community able to come together in any way to try and deal with the violence? It’s just so frustrating to see cases like Jose's where it feels like there's not much closure or resolution for the family. I hope there are folks out there still pushing for answers and justice for him and others who lost their lives during that period.
