I just can't stop thinking about Felipe Hernandez and what his family must be going through. Losing a loved one in such a violent and senseless way is devastating. It's particularly tough to hear about how the community's fear might be standing in the way of justice. There are so many communities dealing with similar fears and it's heartbreaking how people feel they can't step up without risking their own safety. It makes it hard for any resolution or peace to be found. I understand why some might be hesitant, but at the same time, we need to find ways to encourage support so that families like Felipe's can find solace. I'm hoping that with time, things can change, and that people will feel safe enough to share what they know. His family deserves closure, and whoever did this needs to be held accountable. The cycle of silence and violence has got to end. It's just so hard to know what the next step should be when it feels like the odds are stacked against finding the truth.
