I came across this tragic case of Ariel Bojorquez and Rosa Isela Chavez from 2016, and I can't shake this feeling of profound sadness for both of their families. It's incredibly difficult to comprehend just how scary it must have been for them, just cruising down 29th Street one moment and then everything changing in an instant. What really caught my attention was that despite the deliberate nature of this attack, the police didn't initially classify it as gang-related. Usually, one might think about gangs given the context and history of violence in San Bernardino, but there seems to be more to this. It raises so many questions about the motive and who exactly was behind it. It's frustrating to think that there were witnesses to the gunfire yet there isn't a clear profile or clue on the suspects. I hope that there will be some closure for Ariel's and Rosa's families. It's haunting to live without justice or answers. If anyone is local or has been following this closely, were there ever any updates or breakthroughs that just didn’t make the larger news cycles? I really hope some resolution comes soon.
