I can't wrap my head around the fact that this young man—who should have had his whole life ahead of him—was taken in such a senseless act of violence. I've been following the GoFundMe campaign that was set up for his funeral expenses, and it’s heartening to see people rallying around his family during this tragic time. It's a reminder of the love and support that's out there, even amidst all this darkness.
I truly hope that justice will be served for Markel. It seems like so many of these cases just linger without closure, and it's unbearable to think about the pain his friends and family must be going through.
