Hey everyone, I wanted to discuss something about the Patigler case that just hit me today. Has anyone else considered the possibility that the red and white Beechcraft Bonanza might have landed near some backcountry trails that hikers frequent, but the area wasn't fully explored during the initial searches?
Given Patigler's skills and equipment, I find it hard to believe they wouldn't have left some sort of trail or signal if they managed to land. Maybe they left signs that were simply missed? I'm wondering if anyone in the area, especially those familiar with lesser-known hiking routes around Skolai Valley, might have stumbled upon anything that could provide a hint—camping gear, makeshift shelters, anything like that?
It just seems like if we focus efforts on more remote areas, particularly where one could feasibly hike out or be found by hikers, it might yield new leads. Thoughts?
Has anyone else been looking into the potential routes the Patiglers might have taken after Tok was weathered in? I found it interesting that the sighting at Dan Creek Landing said the plane was flying north. Could it be that the couple decided to divert towards Skolai Valley to avoid the bad weather? It's strange that the searchers didn't initially consider that area given a witness reported this. Seems like an oversight. I also read somewhere that the aircraft's unique v-tail design should make it somewhat more recognizable, even from a distance. Maybe the Patiglers were trying to find a safe gorge or landing area? I really hope they are just waiting it out and managing with the supplies they had. Thoughts?
