I've been thinking a lot about the New Year's Eve atmosphere on that night when Ramon Paredes Jr. was killed. It's so unsettling to think that something as innocent as celebrating a new year can mask such a tragic event. The fact that people assumed the gunfire was simply part of the festivities is chilling. I can’t begin to imagine what his family is going through – the mix of hope for peace and celebration with the harsh reality of losing a loved one. My thoughts are with his family and friends during what must be an incredibly difficult time. It just goes to show how vigilant we need to be about our surroundings, even during seemingly joyful occasions. If anyone out there saw anything or remembers the noise from that night, reaching out to the authorities could be so pivotal in bringing some semblance of justice to his loved ones.
