I recently came across the story of Regginna Jefferies, and my heart really goes out to her family and friends. What truly caught my attention was how she had just performed a solo dance at the service before everything happened. It speaks volumes about her character and the kind of light she must have brought into everyone’s lives. The fact that such a tragic event unfolded while people were gathered in remembrance is just... I don't even have the words. It’s beyond upsetting that this happened in what should have been a safe space, filled with love and support. How is it that the perpetrators managed to escape despite there being so many witnesses? I keep thinking about the other young people who were hurt that day too. They came to honor their friends and left with unimaginable trauma. It raises so many questions about safety and what more can be done to protect our communities. I hope Regginna's family finds the answers they deserve soon. We can't let such incidents fade into the background and become just another statistic. These stories need to keep circulating, because every piece of information counts in seeking justice.
