I've been thinking a lot about the heartbreaking case of Raul Alaniz Jr. It's tough not knowing who was behind such a terrible act. This neighborhood in Boyle Heights has such a unique energy, but it’s frustrating how crime overshadows it sometimes. I'm hoping that with the growing discussions around gun violence, some positive changes will happen. It's clear the community hasn’t forgotten him—I've seen murals and heard folks share memories of Raul at community gatherings. It’s a testament to how much he meant to those who knew him. I'm sending strength to the Alaniz family and everyone affected by this tragedy. Hopefully, with continued awareness, someone might come forward with information to help bring justice to Raul and peace to his family.
