Just came across this case and can't stop thinking about the bravery Barkete showed in his final moments. It’s truly upsetting to see someone so young and full of promise, like Barkete, lose their life in such a senseless act of violence. He left Ethiopia with dreams and hopes for a brighter future, and the fact that he managed to drive away from the initial confrontation in an attempt to find safety shows his fighting spirit and will to survive. I imagine his family must be overwhelmed with loss and disbelief, having their entire world turned upside down. The ripple effects of violence are devastating, and it's infuriating how it should have never happened in the first place. Thinking of all of Barkete's loved ones and hoping they find the strength to cope with such a profound loss.
