Hey everyone,
I've been thinking a lot about the role of community support—especially after tragedies like David Jackson's murder in 2010. It's always so difficult to heal as a community when there's this lingering sense of fear and uncertainty. Even with New Orleans' efforts to curb violence, I've read that many neighbors often feel powerless or isolated in their grief and frustration.
I know it was a particularly rough time back then with so much violence happening, but it really makes you wonder what initiatives or grassroot efforts might have helped or might still be helping now. Community programs, neighborhood watches, anything to help knit a tighter, safer community fabric... what has everyone else heard of? Any success stories in other cities that could serve as inspiration?
My heart goes out to David's friends and family. It’s hard to even comprehend the pain they must have gone through, not just dealing with their loss but also with the broader climate of fear at the time.
Let’s hope we can learn from these tragedies and see some real change in the community.
Stay safe, all.
