Reading about Makani's story really hits close to home, especially as a parent myself. One thing that stood out to me was how involved he was with his soccer team. It's so touching yet deeply saddening that his teammates and coaches held a memorial for him. It must have been incredibly tough for those young kids to process losing their friend in such a tragic way. I can only imagine the pain his teammates felt at the memorial when they released those balloons. Sports can create such strong bonds, and it's clear that Makani was cherished not just as a player but as a friend among the team. My heart goes out to those boys and their families as they navigate this loss together. The sense of community shown during this heartbreaking time reflects just how much Makani and his mom were loved.
