I was just thinking about the growing number of unsolved homicides in New Orleans, particularly cases involving young victims like Kethan Roberts. It feels so frustrating knowing that the city has more than 160 cold cases since the '80s. I recently read about how they’re trying to leverage modern forensic techniques — it's promising, but also a reminder of how many families have been waiting for answers for so long.
I can’t imagine the pain Kethan’s family must still be feeling. It’s like these young lives are caught in this cycle of violence without end. With efforts like the Homicide Cold Case Unit and incentives from groups like Crimestoppers, I hope we see more breakthroughs. But it also seems clear that for things to really change, the community has to be engaged too. Has anyone heard about any recent developments in Kethan’s case or others like it? Would love to hear if there’s any new hope on the horizon.
Hey everyone,
I’ve been reading more about Kethan Roberts' case, and something struck me about the involvement of the local community—or rather, the lack of it. It’s devastating to think about how many cases like his go unsolved because folks are understandably scared to come forward. But at the same time, real progress often hinges on someone brave enough to speak up. Kethan was just 18, so his story really gets to me, thinking of the bright future he had ahead and how his family deserves answers.
I know trust between the community and law enforcement hasn’t always been strong, but the Cold Case Unit's doing what they can with the tools they have. Could local outreach programs help bridge that gap, or are there other ways to encourage people to speak out safely? I'm curious if anyone here has thoughts on how to bolster community trust to help solve cases like Kethan's.
Really hoping for justice for Kethan and peace for his family. They deserve to know what happened.
Stay safe, everyone.
