I’ve been following the case of Stephen Thomas and the other victim at the CarQuest on Airline Highway, and it’s just so devastating to hear about such violence happening in our community. What’s been sticking with me is the fact that this tragedy unfolded in a place that so many of us consider a normal part of our daily routine. It makes you realize how vulnerable we all are, even when simply going about our work or errands. The fact that the suspect was actually an employee at the store adds another layer of heartbreak for the family and friends of the victims. I can’t even begin to imagine the betrayal and disbelief they must be feeling. It’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that someone who worked alongside Stephen could commit such a senseless act. This whole situation has been such a wake-up call for many of us about the issues our community is facing with crime. My thoughts are with the victims' families during this incredibly difficult time.
