I've been following David O'Sullivan's case and felt compelled to bring up the weather conditions around the time he went missing. April in the San Jacinto Mountains can be quite unpredictable. There had been reports of late-season snowstorms, which could have easily disoriented even an experienced hiker. Additionally, the trail can get icy and treacherous in spots. I can’t help but wonder if he might have been caught off guard by sudden changes in weather, especially considering he was trying to push through to Canada. Has anyone heard whether the search teams used weather data as part of their strategy? It might provide clues about which trails he could have possibly diverted to for safety. I hope this angle has been explored, but if not, it's worth considering for those involved in ongoing efforts.

Hey everyone, I’ve been following David O’Sullivan’s case for a while now, and something that I’ve been pondering is the significance of the weather at the time he went missing. Those of you familiar with the PCT might know how quickly weather can change in mountainous regions like San Jacinto. In early April, it’s not uncommon for sudden snowstorms or heavy rain to hit the area. Does anyone know if there were any surprising weather changes around April 7, 2017, that might have posed a risk for someone hiking through? I wonder if adverse conditions could have caused him to stray off his planned path. If anyone was hiking around that time, it would be helpful to hear your experiences or if you noticed anything unusual. Let's keep sharing any bits of information that could potentially help his family find closure.

Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about the David O'Sullivan case and wanted to share a theory I've been mulling over. Considering he was last seen checking out of the Idyllwild Inn, has anyone looked into whether he might have encountered someone at the Inn who could have given him alternative trail advice or guidance? Maybe he met another hiker or a local who suggested a different route through the San Jacinto Mountains, which could explain why it’s unclear what path he took after leaving Idyllwild. These kinds of interactions can sometimes lead hikers off their planned routes, and the fact that search efforts haven’t yielded much makes me wonder if he might have taken a trail less traveled or known about. It would be interesting to hear if any other hikers or locals remember chatting with him about trail options around that time. Hoping for continued efforts and some new info soon. Stay safe out there.
