Living in Hayfork, we all kind of know each other, and it's unsettling to think about what might have been happening behind closed doors. It makes me wonder about the signs of a deteriorating relationship that might go unnoticed—did friends or neighbors see anything unusual but chose to stay silent? The aspect of self-defense here stirs so many emotions. Helping someone isn’t always straightforward, especially in small towns where privacy is respected deeply, almost to a fault. Billy's death struck a chord with a lot of people here. It’s crucial that we continue the conversation about domestic violence and be more vigilant in offering support to those who might feel trapped in harmful situations. The system isn't perfect, but if this tragedy can spark meaningful change, perhaps it can prevent similar incidents in the future. My heart goes out to both families involved—they've lost so much.
