I came across some information about Lorenzo Hicklen’s case, and it struck me to think about the witnesses who came forward. It must have taken incredible courage for anyone to speak up in such a dangerous situation, especially in neighborhoods where fear of retaliation is very real. We often focus on the evidence and courtroom drama in these cases, but it’s the bravery of these individuals that can really turn the tide and help justice be served. I can’t imagine the weight they must have carried, knowing how crucial their testimonies were in helping get justice for Lorenzo and his family. My heart goes out to them, as well as to Lorenzo's loved ones. I hope their bravery inspires others in similar situations to step forward, and maybe someday help break the cycle of violence.
